The environment is at the top of the agenda for governments, civil society and citizens in general. At AOS we are increasingly turning our attention to the environmental impact of our activities, products and services. We are actively committed to improve the efficiency of products, reduce the energy consumption and promote low-carbon economic growth. We also continuously help our clients and industry supply chain to realize sustainable development.

We recognize that environmental responsibility plays an important part in the manufacturing of our products. The semiconductor production process, including the semiconductor wafer manufacturing and packaging process, generates air emissions, liquid wastes, waste water and other industrial and hazardous materials. We understand the impact our operations have on the environment, the community, as well as the health and safety of our employees, contractors, and suppliers. Therefore, we are fully committed to environmentally sustainable business practices and to minimizing the environmental impact across our supply chain. We expect our suppliers and vendors to adhere to the same environmental business practices.

As part of our broader business strategies, we continue to develop innovative, proprietary and cutting-edge technology to design and manufacture power semiconductor products that meet the high standards of our customers. These standards include the achievement of specified power and electric efficiency of various consumer products. We believe our advanced technology enables us to deliver products that saves energy and improves power efficiency of consumer electronics, which has a positive impact on our environment.

Environmental Management

We have implemented the International Organization for Standardization (“ISO”) 14001 environmental management system in our manufacturing facilities in China and Oregon. We also require our subcontractors, including foundries and assembly houses, to meet ISO 14001 standards. We have adopted pollution control measures for the effective maintenance of environmental protection standards consistent with the requirements applicable to the semiconductor industry in China and the U.S. Our key suppliers are either ISO14000 or EMAS certified.

Greenhouse Gas Emission

Climate change has been identified as one of the greatest challenges facing nations, governments, businesses and citizens over future decades. Climate change has implications for both human and natural systems and could lead to significant changes in resource use, production and economic activity. In response, AOS has been recognized in accordance with ISO 14064-1 worldwide standard, which means that we develop and implement programs to limit greenhouse gas (GHG) concentrations. Such GHS initiatives rely on the quantification, monitoring, reporting and verification of GHS emissions or removals.

Product-Related Environmental Sustainability

As a responsible global citizen, AOS is committed to protecting our environment by being a green supplier. We began this effort in August 2004 by converting our products to be RoHS compliant and achieved full RoHS conversion in July 2005.

We have also adopted a Green Policy, which aims to protect the environment through our efforts to become a green supplier. We are converting our products to be compliant with the EU Directive regarding the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (“RoHS”), which requires that the products do not contain more than agreed levels of toxic substance. Our manufacturing facilities in China also obtained QC080000 certification, which is an IECQ Certificate of Conformity Hazardous Substance Process Management for European Directive 2002/95/EC requirements and a Certificate of Green Partner for Sony Green Partner Program. We avoid using these restricted materials to the extent possible when we design our products.

Health & Safety

AOS has established a health and safety management system to eliminate or minimize the risks to personnel and other parties who could be exposed to hazards associated with its activities.

Our commitment is to comply with applicable legal requirements. Under the control of the health and safety management system, we are able to control hazards originating within the workplace which could adversely affect the health and safety of our employees. We ensure that we regularly deliver health and safety training to our employees to eliminate or minimize the risks.

At each of our major locations where we operate, we establish site safety committees that conduct routine meetings to check and review effectiveness of our policies and guidelines, incidents and oversee the implementation of corrective actions to ensure a safe and healthy work environment. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we swiftly implemented policies and procedures to protect the health and safety of employees in accordance with guidelines adopted by health authorities. The COVID-19 Prevention Committees at respective U.S. locations met routinely to update prevention measures in accordance to the state and county health orders.

Business Conduct & Ethics

The Code of Business Conduct and Ethics (the "Code") of Alpha and Omega Semiconductor Limited (together with its consolidated subsidiaries, the "Company") helps ensure compliance with legal requirements and our standards of business conduct. All Company employees are expected to read and understand this Code, uphold these standards in day-to-day activities, comply with all applicable policies and procedures, and ensure that all agents and contractors are aware of, understand and adhere to these standards. References in this Code to employees are intended to cover officers, directors and all other employees of the Company.

AOS treats its employees with the utmost respect and dignity. We are committed to respect and comply with labor standards and fair business practices at every respective location internationally. We strive to uphold and maintain a work environment that promotes equal employment opportunities, and is free of discrimination and harassment against any employee and employment applicant on the basis of protected classifications in respective countries where we operate a business. Such standards and practices are enforced through an annual distribution and updates of our employee policies at every respective international location, and through daily efforts at work from both management and employees. We also actively train and support our employees so they can develop and realize their potentials, and to have meaningful and successful careers with our companies.

We also require our suppliers and service providers to comply with the SB657 regulations which require our direct suppliers to certify that materials incorporated into AOS’s products comply with the laws forbidding slavery, human trafficking and child labor of the country or countries in which they conduct business.
